Carla loses her fight with cancer

Carla Jannotti, 12 years old, loving daughter and sister, Carla was a “champion” in every sense of the word. She was an amazing athlete and bright student, who dreamed of one day being a Gator gymnast. Her strength, courage and perseverance were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a hero to many including her family. After losing the ability even to move she fought back through painful treatments and rehab to regain the use of her limbs and voice, eventually returning to school at Forest Lake Elementary in Deltona. Through it all she kept her smile and charismatic laugh. Carla made so many wonderful and lasting friendships with so many people during this journey. Carla has had messages from well wishers from around the country. Some people have related their stories of how Carla had inspired them, and some said their lives were saved through early screening for cancer because of her story. Carla passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She had been battling brain cancer, and associated complications, for more than two years. The memories she left with us all can never be replaced and will never be lost. She will be with us always. Memorial service will be held at the Church of Annunciation, 1020 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, 4 p.m., on Friday, March 18. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Carla Jannotti’s Trust account at Wachovia Bank at any location. A donation will be made by the family to GIVE KIDS THE WORLD on her behalf.
